Adult Dance Classes
Ballet Arts Studio offers adult dance and movement opportunities for ages 18 and up, at all levels of experience.
ADULT TAP
Adult Tap classes at Ballet Arts present a unique combination of both Broadway and rhythm styles of Tap. Dancers learn the fundamental building blocks of both forms of Tap, in the steps and the melodies and rhythms used in class. Tap is fantastic exercise for both the body and mind and we encourage dancers of any age to give it a try, even if they have never put on a pair of tap shoes before. As a bonus, tap dance is a ridiculous amount of fun.
ADULT BALLET
The primary goals of Adult Ballet are developing coordination and encouraging a love and appreciation of proper technique and of movement and music. Class work includes the development of large and small motor skills and the French language vocabulary of ballet. With proper technique, adults new to ballet are introduced to specific expressive concepts of movement, how to communicate through movement and experience the joy of ballet.

FAQ's
Q: What should I wear?
A: There is no dress code for adult classes. You can wear Pilates/yoga wear or any exercise wear that isn't too baggy. For footwear, you will need tap shoes for tap class, and socks or ballet shoes for ballet classes!
Q: Which level should I take?
A: Our classes are accessible to students of all levels. Our beginner-level classes are good for both those who have never danced before, as well as those who are coming back after a break from dancing for any period of time. The intermediate classes are great for students who have current dance training or are interested in leveling up after taking some beginner classes at the studio! The Saturday ballet class is combined with our highest-level youth students in the Dutchess Dance Company.
Q: Do I have to perform?
A: No! All of our classes are drop-in, meaning you pay for one class at a time. There are no performances associated with our adult dance program.
Q: How far in advance do I need to sign up for classes?
A: We ask that you sign up at least 8 hours before the class you intend to take. If there are less than 3 people signed up, we may opt to cancel the class. We will let you know with ample time if a class you are signed up for has been canceled!
